On March 4, 2020, the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) issued a total of 100 invitations to apply for a provincial nomination for permanent residence. Candidates needed a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of over 300 in order to be invited.

It is not required to have a job offer in Alberta in order to be issued an invitation to apply for a provincial nomination. The AINP says it may give priority to candidates who have the following three criteria:

- a parent, child or sibling already living in the province.
So far this year, Alberta has issued 751 invitations to Express Entry candidates. In 2019, Alberta issued a total of 11,137 invitations through the Alberta Express Entry Stream.
