Three Canadian provinces have invited candidates to apply for provincial immigration programs this week.
British Columbia (BC) and Alberta issue invitations through their Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP). Quebec does not have a PNP and instead has a separate agreement with the federal government that gives the province the right to select all economic immigrant candidates.

This week, B.C. invited more than 144 candidates to nominate through the B.C. PNP.
The province invited 52 candidates in a general draw, which considered skilled workers, international graduates, and candidates from the entry-level and semi-skilled stream. All candidates were required to score a minimum of 132 marks, except for entry-level and semi-skilled candidates who were required to score 110 marks.
British Columbia also held four occupation-specific draws for candidates from the Skilled Worker and International Graduate streams. These included:
- 32 candidates in child care occupations, with a minimum of 88 marks
- 29 Candidates in Construction Trades with a minimum of 90 marks
- 24 candidates in Healthcare Professions with a minimum of 101 marks;
- Less than five candidates with a minimum of 80 marks in veterinary care professions
Alberta
Alberta held a draw for candidates in its Dedicated Healthcare Pathway with Alberta Job Offer stream on July 30. 54 Candidates were required to have a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 300 or higher. Alberta posts these draw results retrospectively.
This stream is aligned with Canada’s federal Express Entry system, meaning candidates must already have an application in the Express Entry application pool. Those who receive an invitation from the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) automatically receive an additional 600 CRS points on their Express Entry application, making it almost certain that they will get an ITA in an upcoming Express Entry draw.
Alberta is also introducing a new Expression of Interest system for employee streams on September 30, 2024. This new system will replace the current monthly application intake and allow for a continuous intake of applications. The AAIP says applicants will be placed in a selection pool and then invited to apply based on “candidate rankings and provincial labour market needs and priorities.”
Quebec
Quebec invited provincial immigration candidates on August 1. Like Alberta, Quebec also publishes provincial immigration results retroactively.
The province invited 1,490 people to apply. They were required to have a minimum score of 580, in addition to Level 7 oral proficiency in French (or higher) according to the Échelle québécoise des niveaux de comptence en français (Quebec’s scale of levels of French proficiency for adult immigrants) or its equivalent;
Candidates may also be considered if they have received a job offer outside of the Montréal Communard Métropolitain.
