Provincial Immigration Results (July 27 – August 2)

British Columbia (BC)

British Columbia held a targeted draw this week through the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP).

The province invited at least 147 candidates through the Skilled Worker, International Graduate (includes Express Entry British Columbia (EEBC)) option stream. Candidates invited in this draw were selected based on their education and ability to fill gaps in BC’s labour market.

The cut-off scores varied between the industries targeted in the draw. These were as follows:

  • Childcare workers needed a minimum of 89 points to be invited (33 invitations were issued);
  • Construction workers needed a minimum of 90 points to be invited (27 invitations were issued);
  • Healthcare workers needed a minimum of 101 points to be invited (22 invitations issued);
  • A minimum of 120 points was required to be invited to technical staff (64 invitations were issued); and
  • Veterinary care workers needed a minimum of 80 points to be invited (at least one invitation had to be issued).

The Skilled Worker category is designed for international workers who have relevant experience in professional, management, technical, trade or other skilled occupations after secondary education or training. The candidate’s job must be classified as skill level 0, 1 or 2 under the National Occupational Classification (NOC) Training, Education, Experience and Responsibilities (TEER) matrix.

Candidates applying under the skilled worker category must have a full-time permanent job offer in a skilled occupation from a BC employer. If the job offer is in a regulated occupation that requires mandatory certification or licensing, candidates must prove they meet the provincial requirements for that occupation at the time of their application. Paid co-op work placements are accepted as work experience if they were full-time and equal to or greater than the job offer at the NOC level.

Manitoba

This week the Manitoba PNP (MPNP) held two immigration draws for skilled workers.

The first draw took place under the occupation-specific selection under the Skilled Workers in Manitoba stream. The draw issued 145 invitations to individuals whose NOC matched 44101-Home Support Workers, Caregivers, and Related Occupations, or who fell under the broad occupation category “3” (Healthcare Occupations).

On the same day, the MPNP held another draw under the Skilled Worker Overseas stream. Under this stream, 58 invitations were issued to candidates with a minimum score of 724. Candidates were required to be invited under a “strategic recruitment initiative” by the MPNP in order to be considered in this draw.

Of the 203 invitations issued by the MPNP this week, 29 were issued to individuals who declared a valid Express Entry profile.
