British Columbia (BC)
The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) issued at least 88 invitations to apply for permanent residence (PR) through its Skilled Worker, International Graduate (includes the Express Entry British Columbia (EEBC) option) stream. This stream is designed for international graduates who have graduated from a university or college within the province in the past three years, and who have a valid job offer from an employer in BC).
Invitations were sent to candidates who had professional experience in in-demand positions in the province. Specifically, these in-demand occupations included:
- childcare professionals, who needed a minimum of 90 points to be invited;
- construction professionals, who needed a minimum of 95 points to be invited;
- Healthcare Professionals which require a minimum score of 95;
- Technical Professional which required a minimum of 116 marks; and
- Veterinary care professionals needed a minimum score of 80.
The inclusion of the EEBC option suggests that this is an Advanced Provincial Nomination stream. Advanced streams are aligned with the Express Entry management system, meaning that individuals within the Express Entry pool can be invited to apply for PR in a province through these streams. Manitoba
The Manitoba Provincial Nomination Program (MPNP) issued over 350 invitations to apply for candidates.
Skilled workers in Manitoba Through the occupation-specific selection stream (part of the Manitoba Work Experience Pathway), the MPNP invited 276 invitations to apply to individuals working in in-demand occupations in the province. Specifically, individuals worked under the following National Occupation Classifications (NOCs)*:
- 33102—Nurse aides, orderlies and patient service aides;
- 60020—Retail and wholesale trade manager; and
- Group 731—Workers in general construction occupations.
*The NOC system is Canada’s standardized method for classifying occupations within the country.
The MPNP also invited 87 candidates through the Skilled Worker Overseas stream. Individuals selected in this draw had to have a minimum of 691 points and had to state that they were invited by the MPNP as part of a strategic recruitment initiative.
Of the 363 invitations issued through these two programmes, 81 were issued to candidates who also declared a valid Express Entry profile, indicating that these are both advanced streams.
