This week the British Columbia (BC) and Manitoba Provincial Nomination Programs (PNPs) released nominations for newcomers who are interested in applying for permanent residence (PR) in Canada later.
Candidates were invited to apply through the skills immigration and family reunification streams. Read on for full details of this week’s provincial immigration news.
Comment: Different PNPs use different scoring criteria when evaluating immigration candidates in their province. Thus, scores between PNPs are not comparable and can vary greatly.

Immigration results (11–24 May)
British Columbia
The British Columbia PNP (BCPNP) invited candidates in two separate draws on May 14 and 22.
On the 14th, the BCPNP issued 37 invitations in a general draw that considered all skilled worker streams within the program (Skilled Worker, Skilled Worker Express Entry British Columbia (EEBC) option,International Graduate, International Graduate EEBC Option, and Express Entry and Semi-Skilled Streams). Candidates were required to have a minimum score of 131 to be invited under all streams – except for the Express Entry and Semi-Skilled streams, which required candidates to have a minimum score of 107 to be invited.

Under the same draw on the 14th, BCPNP conducted targeted draws for candidates with professional experience in in-demand occupations in BC. The draw was held under the Skilled Worker and International Graduate streams (including EEBC option) and invitations were issued to at least 36 candidates in total. The draw cut-off scores were as follows:
- 90 for candidates with experience in child care occupations;
- 93 for candidates with experience in construction trades;
- 100 for candidates with experience in healthcare professions; and
- Rs.80 for candidates with experience in veterinary care professions.
On May 22, BCPNP held another targeted draw for in-demand positions under the Skilled Worker and International Graduate streams (including EEBC options). At least 75 invitations were issued, with cut-off scores including:
- 93 for candidates with experience in child care occupations;
- 93 for candidates with experience in construction trades;
- 122 for candidates with experience in technical occupations;
- 100 for candidates with experience in healthcare professions; and
- Rs.80 for candidates with experience in veterinary care professions.

Manitoba
On May 23, the Manitoba PNP (MPNP) held draws under three separate programs.
The skilled staff in the Manitoba stream issued invitations to those whose profile declared a “Manitoba supporter” who is a close relative as well as a Canadian permanent resident or citizen. Candidates were also required to have lived in Manitoba for at least one year to be considered in this draw. The MPNP invited 121 candidates with a minimum score of 782 under this stream.
On the same day, Manitoba held a draw under the international education stream, issuing 93 invitations to eligible candidates.
Finally, the MPNP also held a draw under the Skilled Worker Overseas stream. Candidates were invited if their profiles showed that they were invited under the MPNP’s strategic recruitment initiative. The province issued invitations to 39 candidates with a minimum score of 688.
Of the total 253 candidates invited to apply, 29 showed a valid Express Entry profile and Job Seeker Validation Code.
