Australia PR visa introduces new information to help users identify key information regarding VETASSESS assessment criteria in relation to General Professional occupations.
VETASSESS classifies its General Professional occupations into groups A, B, C, D, E and F according to differences in educational and/or employment criteria and the Indicative Skill level provided in the ANZSCO catalogue.
This new information included in Anzscosearch helps users to quickly:
- Identify if a selected occupation is classified under Group A, B, C, D, E or F.
- Access critical Skills Assessment Criteria instantly.
- Access the VETASSESS list of general professional occupations in one-click.
The below is a summary of qualifications and employment requirements included in each Group:
Group A – Skills Assessment criteria
Qualification(s) assessed at Australian Bachelor degree or higher degree with a highly relevant field of study and at least one year of post-qualification highly relevant employment at an appropriate skill level in the last five years.
Group B – Skills Assessment criteria
Qualification(s) assessed at AQF Bachelor degree or higher degree with a highly relevant field of study and at least one year of post-qualification highly relevant employment at an appropriate skill level in the last five years; OR
Qualification(s) assessed at AQF Bachelor degree or higher degree with an additional qualification at least Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Diploma level in a highly relevant field of study and at least two years of post-qualification highly relevant employment at an appropriate skill level in the last five years; OR
Qualification(s) assessed at AQF Bachelor degree or higher degree without a highly relevant field of study and at least three years of post-qualification highly relevant employment at an appropriate skill level in the last five years;
Additionally, pre-qualification employment may be considered for skills assessment purposes if the occupation is under this group being employment requirements as follows:
five years of relevant employment required in addition to at least one year of highly relevant employment performed at the required skill level in the last 5 years before applying
Group C – Skills Assessment criteria
Qualification(s) assessed at least AQF Diploma level with a highly relevant field of study and at least one year of post-qualification highly relevant employment at an appropriate skill level in the last five years; OR

Group E – Skills Assessment criteria

Group F – Skills Assessment criteria
Qualification/s assessed at least AQF Certificate II with a highly relevant field of study and at least one year of post-qualification highly relevant employment at an appropriate skill level in the last five years. OR
Qualification/s assessed at least AQF Certificate II without a highly relevant field of study and at least two years of post-qualification highly relevant employment at an appropriate skill level in the last five years.
What is the process for Skills Assessment for Australia PR
Step1- Nominate your occupation – Applicant need to nominate an occupation as part of applying for a formal Skills Assessment application. Begin by nominating the occupation which is most relevant to your qualification/s and employment. Generally, for a Skills Assessment application lodged under either ENS, GSM, RSMS or TSS visa categories, applicants are required to hold a qualification which is assessed at the required educational level in a highly relevant field to the nominated occupation. For applicants who meet the skills assessment criteria, we will then determine the date that you were deemed skilled in your nominated occupation within a ten year period. The Date Deemed Skilled is the date you have met the VETASSESS skills assessment criteria.
Step2- Check you occupation description – Applicant need to check in the occupation list whether the occupation exist in the Australia occupation list or not. It is very important to have an occupation in the list.
Step3- Prepare for your application – VETASSESS Refund Policy will reflect an administration fee of $100 for applications that do not meet eligibility criteria for Priority Processing. You will need to ensure that you meet the assessment requirements for your nominated occupation for both the VETASSESS assessment, and for your visa. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that they nominate an appropriate occupation for their visa/sponsorship requirements. When applying for Priority Processing, you must have sufficient evidence supporting correct fee payment, proof of identity, qualification and employment claims ready to upload to the online form. Your supporting documentation does not require certification. If applying online, you\’ll need to upload and submit high quality colour scans of proof of identity, qualification and employment documents. If you\’re submitting the documents by mail, please provide high quality colour copies of the required documents along with the signed and completed application form.
Step1- Start Your Application Process– If you require additional support to submit your application, our Skills Assessment Support (SAS) services may be for you. SAS is an optional service for migration agents and prospective applicants who are yet to submit their Skills Assessment application to VETASSESS. The SAS services provide tailored support to applicants/agents on how to submit a decision-ready application for a General Professional Occupation with VETASSESS.
What are the documents required for Skill assessment.
- Application Fee – Pay the correct application fee at the time of submitting your application. Refer to Fees and Payment for Application Pricing List. Application fees include GST if you (the applicant) is an Australian resident for tax purposes.
- Photograph – One recent passport-sized colour photograph is required. The photograph must be no more than six months old and of good quality (self-taken photographs are not acceptable).
- Proof of identity – As proof of your identity, we require your passport biopage showing your name, photo, date of birth and gender. If you do not have a passport, you will need to provide your full birth certificate together with evidence of your driver\’s licence or national identity card. You must also read and sign the declaration on the application form to affirm that the information you have provided is true and correct, and to acknowledge that you understand how your personal information will be handled by VETASSESS. If you have nominated an agent representative to act on your behalf, their name and signature must also be included on your signed declaration form.
- Change of name – If applicable, evidence of name change must be provided to address any naming inconsistencies in the documents submitted. This is to support your identity.
- Qualification evidence – Qualification evidence includes your qualification award certificate accompanied by the academic transcripts.
- Employment evidence – As part of determining your eligibility for Priority Processing, VETASSESS will need to determine if your employment claims can be verified within 10 business days. Therefore, please ensure that you have all the required evidence listed below at the time of applying for Priority Processing.
The Statement of Service must include the following:
- a) Issue date for the Statement of Service
- b) The company letterhead
- c) Your full name
- d) The working hours per week
- e) Your official position title(s) held at the organisation
- f) The exact period of your employment in each position held
- g) Description of your main duties for each position held
- h) The salary earned
- i) Full name, position title, official contact details and signature of the person writing the statement of service – references from colleagues at the same level or below will not be accepted. Please note that your referee may be contacted for further information.
Payment evidence:
Payment evidence can include one of the following types:
- Pay slips (ideally your first and last payslip);
- Taxation Records of Assessment (bearing company and applicant name)
- Bank Statements showing at least two salary payments, your name and the employer\’s name; OR
- Employment-linked insurance / superannuation records (bearing company and applicant name).
Self-employed:
If you are self-employed, you are required to provide the following:
- a) Evidence of self-employment such as sole trading or business registration details and /or official statements issued by your (registered) accountant and/or legal team. The statement from your accountant or solicitor must include the accountant\’s or solicitor\’s letterhead, your full name, how long you have been continuously self-employed including official dates in each role, the nature of the business conducted, the signature and contact details of the accountant or solicitor. - b) Statutory declaration listing your main duties during self-employment;
- c) Payment evidence showing regular income from self-employment, such as client invoices together with corresponding bank statements and/ or official taxation records;
- d) Supplementary evidence, such as contracts with clients or suppliers, client testimonials, evidence of projects completed etc.
- Resume / curriculum vitae – If applying for a formal skills assessment, you must include your CV. A resume / CV allows you to outline both your academic studies (describing the major focus of your studies, including providing details of any major projects undertaken as part of course requirements) as well as describing your employment / career history in your own words.
