4,500 ITAs issued in new Express Entry draw
Canada held its 166th Express Entry draw on November 5. 4,500 ITA are issued.
The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score in this round was 478, 7 points more than the previous draw held on October 14, 2020.
French-speaking candidates are eligible for more CRS points in this draw. Recently, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced that French-speaking candidates now get 25 additional points for their language skills, up from 15, and bilingual candidates will now get 50 points, up from 30.
This new draw brings the total number of ITAs issued in 2020 to 87,350. This year is shaping up to be a new record-breaking year for Express Entry, as the number of ITAs issued to date is the highest it has ever been.
Canada’s main three categories are managed under the Express Entry System are: –
In the Express Entry system, eligible candidates for the FSWC, FSTC, CEC programs, and some Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates are scored based on the Comprehensive Ranking System, or CRS.
Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) applied a tie break rule in today’s draw; candidates had to have submitted their profiles before October 26, 2020 at 22:44:19 UTC. This means that all candidates with CRS scores above 478, as well as those with scores of 478 who entered their profile in the Express Entry pool before this date and time, received an ITA.
Candidates are ranked in the pool based on the CRS that considers 4 main factors: –
- Age
- Education
- Skilled work experience
- Proficiency in English or French
While a job offer is not required in order to be eligible under the Express Entry system, the CRS does award additional points to candidates who have one.
