ASMIRT (Skill Assessment Authority) Fee update -9th July 2020

New fees schedule has been published for ASMIRT (Australian Society of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy). If you are you planning to pursue a career in Medical Radiation Science in Australia and are applying with qualifications gained from an overseas institution?

A migration assessment with the Australian Society of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (ASMIRT) is the evaluation of qualifications and employment in radiography, radiation therapy and sonography for the purpose of migrating to Australia. 

He following section contains information in relation to making an Application to the Overseas Qualification Assessment Panel (OQAP) for Assessment of Qualifications Gained outside Australia in Diagnostic Radiography/Medical Imaging Technology, Radiation Therapy or Ultrasound.

Please note: All applications are assessed on an individual basis with due diligence.

Diagnostic Radiography/Medical Imaging Technology or Radiation Therapy qualifications gained outside Australia are not immediately accepted or recognised for issue of the Australian Society of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (ASMIRT) Statement of Qualification which is required for eligibility to ASMIRT membership and by the Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection for migration purposes. The ASMIRT Statement of Qualification and corresponding skills assessment letter is required for immigration purposes in the skilled migration program.

Ultrasound qualifications gained outside Australia are not immediately accepted and recognised for registration in Australia. The ASMIRT assesses the qualifications gained outside Australia for Ultrasound and issues a Certificate of Recognition in Ultrasound. This Certificate is required for registration with the Australasian Sonographers Accreditation Registry and by the Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection for migration purposes. The Certificate of Recognition in Ultrasound and corresponding skills assessment letter is required for immigration purposes in the skilled migration program.

The ASMIRT has been authorised by the Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection to assess and issue skills assessments for the following occupations:

  • ANZSCO Code 251211 Medical Diagnostic Radiographer
  • ANZSCO Code 251212 Radiation Therapist
  • ANZSCO Code 251214 Sonographer

  • Appeals process (offshore): $265 (GST free)
  • Appeals process (onshore): $292

New fees:

  • Skills assessment application: $298
  • Appeals process (offshore): $270 (GST free)
  • Appeals process (onshore): $298
