British Columbia issues over 430 invitations in new PNP draw
British Columbia invited more than 430 immigration candidates to apply for provincial nomination for permanent residence in Canada in a draw held on 1 September.
The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) has continued to leave businesses in tourism, hospitality, retail and personal services due to widespread unemployment in these areas since the onset of the COVID-19 epidemic.
Invitations were made for skilled workers and international graduate candidates in Express Entry BC (EEBC), Skill Immigration (SI) as well as Entrepreneur Streams.
The EEBC category is for candidates with a valid profile in the federal government\’s express entry system, the main route to Canada for skilled migrants hoping to obtain permanent residency in Canada.
The SI category is for skilled and semi-skilled workers, whose occupations are in high demand in the province of B.C.
The minimum score requirements in today\’s draw were between 76 E and 98 in five EEBC and SI categories.
The minimum marks were:
SI – Skilled Worker: 94
SI – International Graduate: 98
SI – Entry level and semi-skilled: 76
EEBC – Skilled Worker: 94
EEBC – International Bachelor: 98
Candidates to receive invitations through EEBC, Federal Express Entry System and B.C. K skills must be registered under both the Immigration Registration System (SIRS).
Express Entry is the application management system of the federal government. Express entry candidates are awarded marks in English or French based on human capital factors such as age, work experience, education and language proficiency.
Express entry candidates with a provincial nomination receive an additional 600 points toward their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score.
Skills immigration candidates should only be registered with SIRS.
On 1 September, invitations were also issued to applicants in the Entrepreneur Immigration – Base Category Stream and Entrepreneur Immigration – Regional Pilot Stream.
In the Entrepreneur Immigration Base category, six invitations were issued to candidates with scores equal to 126. The base category is for senior managers or business owners who plan to invest in business in the B.C. And to actively manage it on a day to day basis.
Five invitations were also issued to candidates with a score of at least 128 for entrepreneurs – the Regional Pilot Stream, which is designed to attract new businesses to small, regional communities in the B.C.
These three new draws are through last week\’s draw, through which BC PNP\’s Tech Pilot was issued 72 invitations for skilled workers and international graduates with a job offer in one of its 29 qualified tech businesses.
The minimum score of 80 was the cut-off for each category.
Introduced in 2017, Tech Pilot responds to labor needs in the technical sector of British Columbia.
BC PNP Tech pilot applicants are not required to demonstrate an indefinite, full-time job offer, a requirement that applies to other BC PNP immigration categories. Instead, candidates must have a job offer that is of at least one year\’s duration and that has at least 120 calendar days left at the time of applying for provincial nomination.
