Manitoba issues another 249 invitations with an expression of interest profile for immigration candidates

The Title

Both skilled students from Manitoba and abroad as well as international student graduates were invited to apply for provincial enrollment for permanent residency on 17 January.

The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) issued a total of 249 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) to candidates in the following three streams: Skilled Workers in Manitoba; Skilled Workers Overseas; and the International Education Stream.

Invitations were distributed as follows:

    • Skilled Workers in Manitoba: 192
    • Skilled Workers Overseas: 34
    • International Education Stream: 23

This is Manitoba’s 81st draw since the program began in April 2014.

Invitations to Express Entry candidates

Out of the 249 invitations issued in Manitoba’s latest draw, 22 went to candidates in the Express Entry pool.

The Express Entry system manages the pool of candidates for three of Canada’s main Economic-Class immigration categories: the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Canadian Experience Class.

Express Entry candidates are given a score based on a Comprehensive Ranking System 40; CRS 41; that measures human capital factors such as age, work experience, education, and language ability. Candidates with the highest-scoring are invited to apply for permanent residency in Canada through regular draws from the express entry pool.

Express provincial candidates who receive a provincial nomination are awarded an additional 600 CRS points, which guarantees an invitation to apply for Canadian permanent residency in a subsequent federal Express entry draw.

Expression of Interest

To be invited for a provincial nomination from Manitoba through both skilled workers in Manitoba and skilled labor migrant categories, candidates are required to file an Expression of Interest (EOI) with the MPNP.

An EOI is an online profile excluded from a score of 1,000.

Points are awarded for a candidate\’s education, work experience, connections to Manitoba and proficiency in English.

The highest-scoring candidates receive a specified number of LAAs, allowing them to apply for a provincial nomination for permanent housing in Canada.
In the latest draw, the lowest-ranked candidate invited under a skilled worker in the Manitoba Stream had a score of 545.

Skilled Worker Overseas and Skilled Worker in Manitoba

The skilled labor migrant of the MPNP allows the MPNP to select and enroll skilled foreign workers who can support Manitoba\’s labor market.

Candidates should have an established relationship with Manitoba such as close family or friends, previous education, or an invitation through MPNP\’s strategic recruitment initiative, among other requirements.

They do not need to be in Manitoba at the time of application in order to qualify.

The 34 candidates invited through the Skilled Worker Overseas Stream were invited directly by the MPNP under a Strategic Recruitment Initiative.

Candidates invited through a skilled worker in the Manitoba category must work in Manitoba and be offered a full-time, permanent job from their employer, among other criteria. International Education Stream
