On November 16, 2022, IRCC officially changed from NOC 2016 to NOC 2021.
Under NOC 2016, Express Entry candidates are required to have work experience classified under NOC skill type 0, A or B. Change in NOC 2021 of IRCC has shifted to Training, Education, Experience and Responsibilities (TEER) system.
The purpose of this change was to update the old NOC system with a new NOC and Training, Education, Experience and Responsibility (TEER) system that would assist Canada with the following four objectives: gain a better understanding of the Canadian labor market; improving its business forecast; Better analyze national labor supply and demand and provide Canadians and foreign nationals alike with more targeted and specialized job training/skills development.
Candidates who already have their profile submitted in IRCC Express Entry pool were invited to switch their NOC to new NOC 2021 freely. Such update should be done for each post (job) included in the IRCC profile. Failure to do so will disqualify the candidates from receiving Invitation to Apply (ITA).
